Program Overview: The Archives Intern is a paid internship opportunity within the Archives Department at LCPA is called Knowledge and Legacy and the terms are used interchangeably at times. This internship will run from June 2nd through August 8th.

General information:

  • Due to the nature of the tasks, this role will require most work to be performed onsite in a multi-use open office space, but remote work is possible for certain projects.
  • This role requires a maximum of 4 days onsite, typically Monday through Thursday; all team members are expected to be on-site on Wednesdays.

What you’ll get to do:

  • Work with the Knowledge & Legacy team on photograph-based projects that represent both the history of Lincoln Center and contemporary event programming
  • With guidance from the Archives Senior Manager and Digital Asset Senior Manager, enhance access to physical and digital photographs collection via tasks such as:
    • Rehousing physical photographs like 35 mm slides and negatives into preservation quality sleeves and boxes
    • Arranging photographs based on content and physical formats
    • Preparing material inventory of all rehoused photographs
    • Adding descriptive tags to digital images in the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system
  • Attend 3 meetings per week, one for the entire department, and 2 other meetings for supervisor and project check-ins
  • You may also support the team with additional long-term projects, with guidance from your manager

You'll be a great fit if...

  • You have strong attention to detail and an affinity for repetitive tasks
  • You have a clear understanding of and working proficiency with Microsoft suite (particularly Excel, Word, and SharePoint) in a Mac environment
  • You’re able to safely handle physical archival materials (boxes, folders, and individual items), including small and/or fragile physical photographs
  • You have interest or experience in the following settings: Libraries, Museums, Art Galleries, and/or Archives
