Archivist Jobs

-

Archivists are information professionals who acquire, preserve, and provide access to historical records, documents, photographs, and other primary sources. They work at the intersection of history, information science, and cultural heritage — ensuring that records of lasting value are protected for future generations.

Archivist positions are found across a wide range of institutions: universities and academic libraries, government agencies at the federal, state, and local level, museums and art galleries, law firms, corporations, hospitals, religious organisations, and public libraries. Many roles require an MLIS degree with an archives concentration, though some positions accept equivalent experience or a background in history or records management.

Specialisations within the field include digital archivists, audiovisual archivists, medical archivists, and manuscript archivists — each with distinct technical skill requirements.
