Description

The Library Summer Interns supports staff in implementing events for youth and families and circulating material. The summer interns will work both in the main library location and at offsite events, with two shifts at the main library branch and one shift out with the Library on Wheels weekly. 

Duties at events both in the main library and out with the Library on Wheels include: help with set up and clean up, prepping material, greeting participants and providing a welcoming environment. 

Duties for circulating material includes: shelving books, check in returned items, collecting the books drop and more.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assists in the administration of offsite summer programs. 
  • Supports staff in organizing and administering recreational and educational library events for youth or families. Prepares materials for events. Helps with set-up and clean-up for programs. 
  • Assist with circulation by checking items in, shelve, shelf-read, and find materials. Performs inventory. 
  • Provides exceptional customer service when interacting with patrons and promotes library services to the public. Actively represents the library and participates in offsite programs.
  • Works collaboratively with volunteers and staff on projects as needed.
  • Works safely, follows safe work practices, and identifies and reports unsafe work conditions.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

TRAINING

  • Summer interns are required to attend onboarding sessions prior to start of summer.
  • Additional training will be given throughout the summer.


COMMITMENT

  • Ongoing commitment, minimum of 12 hours/week for the duration of the 12 weeks of Summer Boost programming and summer onboarding.
  • Must agree to initial library interview, discussion of expectation for the position and training.
