The role | Te tūnga 

We have a fixed‑term opportunity for a Senior Archives Operational Policy Analyst until December 2026. In this role, you’ll help safeguard the integrity and accessibility of public sector records by developing operational policy, guidance and standards, supporting the interpretation and application of legislation, and contributing advice to senior leaders and Ministers.

Your primary focus will be embedding the Information Management Maturity Assessment tool across central and local government, including setting maturity expectations and ensuring results can be tracked and acted on. You’ll also contribute to wider recordkeeping improvement work linked to the Crown response to the Royal Commission into Abuse in Care.

What you bring | Nōu te rourou

  • Experience or qualifications in information management, operational policy, or regulatory practice 
  • Ability to translate legislation into clear operational policy, processes and guidance 
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, able to identify risks and provide practical recommendations 
  • Understanding of public sector frameworks and how central government operates 
  • Experience engaging effectively with Māori stakeholders and handling Māori information appropriately 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing multiple priorities to a high standard

The appointing range for this role $99,025 - $123,231, depending on your level of experience.
