We are looking for a reliable and enthusiastic Library Resource Assistant / Driver to support our internal transportation and delivery service across the county. In this role, you will ensure that library materials are packed, transported, and delivered efficiently and safely helping us keep services running smoothly.

What you'll be doing:
As a Library Resource Assistant / Driver, you'll support the delivery of a high-quality library and information service.
This includes:
Carry out driving, packing, and delivery duties across the county
Ensure the safe and efficient packing and movement of library materials
Complete routine vehicle checks and basic maintenance
Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and service users
Contribute to the smooth running of our internal delivery service
This post is 30 hours per week, working Monday to Friday. 6 hours per day, between the hours of 7:30am to 2:30pm. The role is based in Preston but covers the whole Lancashire County.

Our ideal person will:
Have a love of driving and hold a valid, clean, driving licence
Bring excellent communication skills and a practical, hands‑on approach to the role
Be confident in operating an efficient delivery service, including the collection, redistribution, packing, and safe delivery of library materials across the county
The role involves manual handling, so you’ll be comfortable lifting, carrying, and moving items safely in line with training and guidance
Ability to manage and carry out routine vehicle checks to ensure vehicles are road worthy
Manage your workload effectively
Work well both independently and as part of a wider team
Be reliable, have good organisation, and a commitment to providing a high‑quality, and responsive service
