Library/Media Technician (LSFES)

Summary
The Library/Media Technician will support the educational mission of Lake Shore Public Schools by managing library resources, assisting students and staff in accessing information, and promoting media literacy. This full-time position requires a proactive individual who is passionate about fostering a love for reading and learning, while also integrating technology and media into the educational experience.

We are seeking two (2) candidates (Violet and Rodgers Elementary)

Responsibilities
- Assist in the management and organization of library resources, including books, periodicals, and digital media.
- Provide support to students and staff in locating and utilizing library materials and technology.
- Facilitate the circulation of library materials, including checking in and out items, managing inventory, and maintaining accurate records.
- Develop and implement programs and activities that promote literacy, research skills, and a love of reading among students.
- Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources into the curriculum and support classroom instruction.
- Maintain the library environment to ensure it is welcoming, safe, and conducive to learning.
- Assist in the selection and acquisition of new library materials, including books, e-books, and multimedia resources.
- Provide training and support for students and staff on the use of library technology, online databases, and digital resources.
- Stay current with trends in library science, technology, and media literacy to enhance library services.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and collaborate with other library/media professionals.

Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate's degree in library science, education, or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working in a library or educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient in the use of technology, including computers, library management software, and digital resources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with students, staff, and the community.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of current trends in library services, media literacy, and educational technology.
- Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to lift and move library materials as needed.

Essential Functions 

• Willingness to renew/add certification and skills in order to support staff and students
• Familiar with Windows 10, Apple Configurator, iOS devices/apps, Chromebooks, Google Apps for Education
• Experience in support of building technology i.e., document cameras, computers, iPads, Chromebooks, laptops, etc. 
• Identify, research and try to resolve technology-related problems before forwarding to next level support
• Experience with installation, repair, and maintenance of computer software, hardware and peripherals, as directed by the Technology Department
• Ability to lift/carry 40lbs, and service ceiling mounted devices
• Ability to train and support staff and students in the use of educational and district technologies
• Experience with media center management software, Destiny Library Manager, preferred
• Commitment to maintain a high level of customer service, interpersonal skills and confidentiality
• Ability to work effectively with staff and students at various skill levels
• Effective communication, problem solving, multi-task, organizational skills
• Self-directed, self-motivated, proactive and ability to work with interruptions
• Assist, manage,  support district technology and media center for staff and students 
• Maintain an inventory listing of all technology and media in the building
• Must be current on technology tools in K-12 education, provide training/documentation as needed
• Clean computers, monitors, keyboards, projectors, etc. and maintain building copiers/printers
• Assist staff with quoting and ordering of technology related supplies
• Prepare/ test technology equipment needed for building presentations (meetings, concerts, assemblies, etc.)
• Facilitate, manage, assist  classroom, individuals and/or small groups  using the media center 
• Responsible for the efficient operation of the Media Center to include: book checkout, shelving, sorting, inventory (year-end), run reports as needed,    book repair, book/ magazine and new media materials processing.  Organize, setup and manage building book fair(s).
• Assist with building daily announcements and broadcast and support Distance Learning events
• All other duties assigned by Technology Coordinator and/or Building Principal
