JOB DESCRIPTION

 

LIBRARIAN/MEDIA CENTER DIRECTOR

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                          

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education
  • Valid Missouri Teaching Certificate with Certification in Library Sciences
  • Experience and high level of competency in technology

 

TERMS OF CONTRACT:       195 days, compensation per certified salary schedule.

 

REPORT TO:                           Building principal

 

PERFORMANCE

RESPONSIBILITIES:               Essential job skills/knowledge and abilities:

  • Plans and implements programs within the media center program
  • Participates in the development and implementation of technology throughout the building and district.
  • Designs and promotes the LMC and maintains an appealing environment that is conducive to learning.
  • Manages the selection, acquisition, circulation, and maintenance of materials and equipment.
  • Trains and supervises media center personnel (staff, students, and/or volunteers) to perform duties efficiently.
  • Plans budgets, and maintains records according to needs and the objectives of the media program.
  • Implements technology and training with teaching staff on techniques that will enhance instructional strategies.
  • Demonstrates and teaches effective research skills.
  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships with students, staff, administrators and parents/patrons.
  • Communicates effectively with students, staff, administrators and parents/patrons.
  • Participates in professional growth activities.
  • Adheres to all policies, procedures, and regulations of the building and district.
  • Collaborates in the development and /or implementation of the building and district vision, mission, and goals.
  • Achieve other assignments as assigned by the building principal.

 

EVALUATION:                         Annual formative and summative evaluation per board of education policy.  Frequency will depend upon length of employment and other factors relating to job performance.
