A welcoming and well-regarded secondary school in Bath is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Librarian & Learning Resources Manager to join its academic support team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity to manage a vibrant hub of learning where literacy, independent research, and a love of reading are actively promoted.

The Library is a central part of school life, supporting the curriculum across all key stages and providing a focused environment for study and enrichment.

The Role

  • Managing the daily operations of the school library and learning resource centre

  • Developing and maintaining a diverse, high-quality collection of physical and digital resources

  • Supporting pupils and staff with research skills, digital literacy, and academic referencing

  • Leading literacy initiatives, including reading groups, author visits, and Book Week events

  • Managing the library budget and supervising student librarians or volunteers

  • Creating an inclusive, welcoming, and purposeful environment for independent study

  • Collaborating with department heads to ensure resources align with curriculum requirements

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • A degree or professional qualification in Librarianship or Information Management (CILIP recognised preferred)

  • Previous experience working in a library or educational environment

  • Strong ICT skills and experience with Library Management Systems (LMS)

  • A genuine passion for promoting literacy and supporting young people’s learning

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage pupils of all abilities

  • A proactive, organised, and creative approach to resource management
