This is for a full-time Librarian position at a K-8th grade school. Responsibilities include creating lessons for student groups that come to the library and helping all grade levels with book checkouts. Interested candidates need to have a Library Informational Specialist License or be enrolled in a current masters degree program that will result in that license.
SUMMARY
Ensure that all Rhodes students are provided with an enriched library environment containing a wide variety of materials that will invite intellectual growth and to aid all students in acquiring the skills needed to take full advantage of library resources.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluates, selects and requisitions new library materials.
- Assists teachers in the selection of books and other instructional materials and makes Media Center materials available to supplement the instructional program.
- Maintains a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloging all library materials and instructs teachers and students on use of the system.
- Arranges for inter-library loan of materials of interest or use to teachers.
- Works with teachers in planning those assignments likely to lead to extended use of library resources.
- Promotes appropriate conduct of students using Media Center facilities.
- Arranges book-related displays and exhibits likely to interest the library's patrons.
- Prepares and administers the library budget.
- Annually weeds obsolete and worn materials from collections.
- Supervises the clerical routines necessary for the smooth operation of the library.
- Performs other duties as required.
