Elementary Librarian

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach library classes for students in grades K–4.

• Plan and deliver lessons aligned with state and district library standards.

• Promote literacy, reading enjoyment, and responsible library use.

• Create a warm, positive, and welcoming atmosphere for students and staff.

• Assist students in selecting books and using library resources.

• Collaborate with teachers to support classroom instruction and curriculum.

• Maintain an organized, attractive, and functional library space.

• Manage circulation, shelving, and library materials.

• Oversee a library paraprofessional

• Support students in developing basic research and digital citizenship skills.

• Organize literacy activities such as book fairs, reading programs, and special events.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; library media certification.

• Experience working with elementary students preferred.

• Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
