Purpose of Job |
The school library is often the heartbeat of the school. It is a place students and teachers go to expand and enrich their learning, to find new interests, and to grow intellectually into the lifelong learners we hope them to be. A true school library media specialist will select, order and organize print and non-print materials for the library media center that will reinforce the curriculum. S/he will instruct students in the use of the library as a source of knowledge, enjoyment and inspiration, and will work with teachers in the development of library media programs to satisfy their classroom needs.

Qualifications |
· Experience in the area assigned preferred · Minimum education: Bachelors degree, Masters in Library/Media preferred · License: Librarian/Media Specialist, TN Endorsement 473 or equivalent · Knowledge of library practices, terminology, and procedures; age-appropriate literature; computer and Internet operations; and concepts of grammar and punctuation. · Ability to establish effective working relationships; adapt to changing work priorities; display mechanical aptitude; and work with frequent interruptions. |

· Maintain proper library environment that supports student learning
