School Librarian (0.5 FTE) Needed

Location: Champlain Valley Union High School

Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) is seeking a part-time (0.5 FTE) School Librarian who is collaborative, organized, and flexible to join our team starting FY27. This individual will help create a welcoming, friendly, and efficient environment within our busy high school library. In this role, they will work together as a team with other librarians to support the overall smooth functioning of the library each school day.

The successful candidate will maintain a positive, welcoming, and helpful demeanor while providing essential support for students and teachers.

Primary Responsibilities

• Greeting individuals and facilitating the use of the library and its resources.
• Co-teaching and serving as an instructional partner with classroom teachers.
• Supporting students and staff to ensure a productive and monitored learning environment.
• Integrating information literacy skills throughout all areas of the curriculum.
• Creatively promoting resources to the entire school community.
• Effectively communicating observations and suggestions for continuous systems and school improvement.
• Carrying out school policies and procedures with high levels of confidentiality.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

• The ability to establish friendly and professional rapport with high-school-aged students, staff, and families.
• Proficiency with digital tools, including ebooks, online databases, and apps for education.
• Familiarity with current library systems and administrative assistant practices.
• Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to juggle many tasks in a dynamic atmosphere.
• A Master’s degree and Certification in Library Media (Preferred).
• The ability to work independently as a self-starter while remaining a flexible team player.
