Are you passionate about libraries, community engagement, and leading high-performing teams? We’re looking for a Community Library Lead Glenview to join our team and make a real impact.

You’ll lead the front-of-house customer service function at our Glenview Library. You’ll oversee day-to-day operations, deliver programmes and events with a literacy focus, and ensure our libraries remain welcoming, safe, and customer-centric.

As a Community Library Lead, you’ll be a people management superstar—driving a one-team culture, fostering collaboration, and inspiring excellence in service delivery. You’ll model and promote our organisation’s vision, purpose, and values while championing innovation and continuous improvement.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the strategic direction for library customer delivery.
  • Manage building operations for the Dinsdale library.
  • Deliver key customer-facing activities and embed a customer-first approach.
  • Provide leadership, support, and regular feedback to your team.
  • Recruit, develop, and coach staff to maintain high skill levels.
  • Champion safety and security practices across the library.
  • Manage circulation and debt recovery processes.
  • Support cross-library collaboration for events and programmes.
  • Embrace current and emerging technology to enhance services.

Qualifications

Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant field; preferably Diploma or Masters in Librarianship.
  • 5+ years post qualification experience in Libraries and 3 or more years proven leadership experience and proven ability to mentor, coach and manage day proven leadership experience, mentoring, coaching, and managing day-to-day operations.
  • Experience in a Customer Services role in a community services environment.
  • Strong customer service focus including promotion of Library in the community.
  • Experience in community programme delivery.
  • Ability to influence others and champion ideas.
  • A ‘people person’ approach and the ability to work collaboratively with others.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and implement new ways of working.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a bi-cultural environment with a diverse range of stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Excellent supervisory and teamwork record.
  • Professional registration (RLIANZA) and experience with Kotui LMS preferred but not essential.
  • Proven computer skills and keen interest in furthering knowledge in this area.
  • Proven success at customer service provision including compliant resolution.
  • The ability to work as rostered over a 7- day operation, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Circa $88,578 dependent on skills and experience.
