JOB SUMMARY
The part-time Library Clerk performs library materials processing tasks under the supervision of the Youth Services Manager.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/WORK PERFORMED
- Prepare children's and young adult library materials for circulation (labeling, laminating, etc.)
- Check materials in after processing and repairing items in the children's and young adult collection.
- Assist with shelving materials as needed.
- Repairs damaged children's and young adult materials in collection for recirculation.

Withdraws weeded materials from collection; donates appropriate materials to Friends of the Library; disposes of withdrawn materials as needed.
- Assists Collection Strategy Coordinator in creating and maintaining children's special collections.
- Maintains supplies needed for materials processing and repairs; coordinate with adult services library clerk as needed.
- Assists Youth Services Manager with special projects as needed.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
- Knowledge of library personnel and their responsibilities, library regulations, procedure, and services.
- Knowledge of Information Technology.
- Ability to maintain clerical records and prepare accurate reports as required.
- Knowledge of word processing and the use of computers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & PHYSICAL ABILITIES
- Ability to sit, bend, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull as required.
- Physical agility, strength, and dexterity necessary for handling library materials up to 35 pounds.
- Dexterity to use basic technology equipment, including a keyboard, mouse, and touchpad.
- Interpersonal skills and cognitive flexibility to interface with a variety of internal and external customers in diverse, sometimes high-stress situations.
- Executive functioning skill appropriate for a busy, fast-paced environment.

QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma is required.
- Public library experience is preferred.

- The Marion Public Library is a busy, customer-focused library with a high level of use by patrons of all ages. Patrons have high expectations regarding the quality and efficiency of library services.
