Reporting to the Director Government Information and Planning, this position plans, monitors and manages all aspects of planning, day to day operations and maintenance of the Government’s Records Management Program for the Government of Nunavut (GN) departments, ministerial offices, branches or offices, agencies, boards, commissions, corporations and any other body designated in the ATIPP regulations across Nunavut. The position establishes the procedures and manages the receipt, maintenance and disposition of records transferred between the Federal Government, the government of the Northwest Territories and the GN to ensure compliance within all relevant federal and territorial legislation, regulations, policies, standards and directives.
Manager, Records Management:
- Supervises Records Analysts and casual staff at Headquarters, with oversight of records management functions across all GN departments and regions, including regional Records Clerks.

Plans, forecasts, approves, and controls expenditures within the area of responsibility, decides on the selection of records management goods and services for system users and approves payment for services.
Promotes a client-focused corporate culture and contributes to organizational values.
- Assists in developing and implementing records management policies, procedures, and systems to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards.
- Leads training and coordinates the implementation of records management policies across GN departments and related entities.
- Conducts audits to ensure compliance with records standards and manages records security and access controls.
- Reviews new legislation, prepares reports, and supports clients in adapting to regulatory changes.
- Provides training, advice, and assistance daily to GN departments, branches or offices, agencies, boards, commissions, corporations and any other body designed in the ATIPP regulations implementing the GN’s Administrative Records Classification system.
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through:

A university degree in Information Management/Technology, Archival Studies, and Library Science from a recognized Institution.
- A minimum of four (4) years’ experience in developing, Interpreting and implementing standard records classification systems plus 1year of supervisory experience.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land,Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
