Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has an anticipated opportunity for a Library Media Specialist, Long-Term Substitute to cover a leave of absence at Founders Memorial School beginning September 2, 2026 through September 30, 2026. 

 

The Long-Term Substitute will provide support and coverage in the school library, working with students and staff to access books, library resources, and technology. Responsibilities may include supporting students with age-appropriate research and digital literacy skills, assisting with library activities, and helping students use technology to support their learning. The substitute will collaborate with school staff and follow established practices and procedures during the leave of absence.

 

This position is a temporary substitute assignment to cover a leave of absence. A Vermont educator license is not required for this assignment. Candidates with a background in library/media studies, library science, educational technology, education, or a related field are strongly encouraged to apply.

 

 

Candidates with the following additional qualifications are encouraged to apply:

  • Background, coursework, or experience in library science, library/media studies, education, educational technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience working in a school library, educational setting, or with school-aged children is preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of library media concepts, skills, and processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • A deep commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.
  • Dedication to providing a safe and respectful learning environment for all students, with an ability to understand and support diverse learning styles and needs.
  • Expertise in utilizing and integrating current technology to support instruction is preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to independently manage the day-to-day operations of a school library/media program.
