Description

The Moorpark City Library is recruiting temporary, part-time interns to support the Lunch at the Library program by assisting with summer meal distribution and providing learning and enrichment activities before and after designated mealtimes.

This part time position supporting the Lunch at the Library Program presents opportunities for teens to gain work experience assisting with meal service and activities. 


Duration of Internship:  5 weeks (June 29, 2026 through July 31, 2026) 

Location: Moorpark Library (Onsite)

  • Employment Type: Temporary Part-Time, Non-Exempt (Hourly)
  • Hours Per Week: 11
  • Hourly Rate: $16.90

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITES 

  • Provides customer service in-person and by phone; answers basic questions about hours, services, programs, and locating materials
  • Promotes and supports Summer Reading and Lunch at the Library, including patron registration and distributing program materials/incentives
  • Assists with program and event logistics, including set-up, room supervision as assigned, and clean-up/breakdown
  • Maintains cleanliness and readiness of the community room and kitchenette; completes daily inspection forms
  • Collects and records program participation statistics and completes related logs/forms
  • Responds to routine patron concerns using good judgment and de-escalation skills; escalates issues to library staff as needed
  • Performs related duties as assigned 
Requirements

 An individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training, and/of work experience required: 

  • Must be at least 17 years of age
  • Must be an incoming high school senior or older
  • Customer service experience in a public-facing environment (library experience is a plus)
  • Basic computer skills (email, Word/Docs, spreadsheets) and ability to learn library systems
  • Strong communication skills and professional public desk/phone etiquette
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; dependable and respectful
  • Ability to follow procedures, maintain accurate records, and work safely
  • Ability to lift/move up to 25 lbs. and assist with room set-up/clean-up
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
Salary Description
16.90 Hourly
