Reporting to the Institutional Repository Librarian, the Digital Processing Archivist will create, ingest, and catalog a specialized digital collection to be held within the LSU Scholarly Repository. This position will involve the handling of sensitive materials and must be prepared to work with content that may be distressing or graphic in nature, including documents related to historical events, violence, and other difficult subjects.
Responsibilities:
85% With the specialized collection in focus, work in collaboration with the Institutional Repository Librarian to build, ingest, and catalog a substantial amount of documents.
10% Stay current with trends and developments in digital libraries/archives and higher education in general by seeking potential professional development and volunteer opportunities. These can include, but are not limited to, attending conferences/webinars related to digital librarianship, serving on Libraries/university committees, and participating in Libraries/University events.
5% Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Master of Library and Information Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program.
0-3 years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master of Library and Information Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program.
Three to five years of related library experience or relevant work experience.
Experience working in an academic library; experience developing and maintaining a digital collection held within a digital library/archive.
